We all know that Jezza is a relentless workaholic. Evans is anything but. What a joke.

Everything that I have heard/read about Chris Evans is negative, hopefully he doesn't ruin the show.

So what you’re saying is that they replaced a violent arse with a lazy arse. Neat! lol

...it effectively means Evans is getting paid a lot of license fee money – his three-year contract is reportedly for 3 million pounds ($4.27 million at today’s rates) – to work just 20 hours a week.
This job, I need it.

More like a busy arse. The problem with making Chris Evans the head of Top Gear is that he has a bunch of other jobs going on right now so it’s gonna be difficult to juggle all of them, especially since he has an almost daily morning radio show plus he hosts late night TV every so often. I reckon having to deal with Top Gear as well is gonna break him. Still I like his columns, so good luck to him.

Why in the world would they choose a guy with such a packed schedule? Come on, BBC...

That article is both misleading and highlighting the problem with making Chris Evans the head of the show. Top Gear is a big production and needs a lot of attention so dividing what little time you have to a morning show AND Top Gear AND your other LIVE TV show seems ambitious if a bit misguided. Still I like his stuff so best of luck to him.

The article is garbage. It says
See, every British resident pays what’s called a license fee. This money is what pays for everything from Top Gear to Doctor Who to EastEnders to Evans’ own radio show.
Additionally, the article states
Evans is up at 4:45 a.m. during the week to make it to the studio for the start of his 6:30 a.m. breakfast show. The program runs for three hours then Evans jets off to get to work on Top Gear at 10 a.m. But the early call time for his radio show means Evans can only devote about four hours to TG before he admittedly becomes “useless” and “fried,” the host told the Top Gear magazine, according to Yahoo! . He leaves the studio at 2 p.m. “on the dot” to pick up his children.
So he’s doing BBC work for 7.5 hours each day, or 37.5 hours each week, which is all done under his salary. Their argument of 4 hours per day for 3 million is garbage.

Nope, I didn’t say that.
Clarkson isn’t violent. He’s a workaholic who was going through some seriously shitty times in his life. Is that justification for what he did? No. But he’s not a violent individual.

BBC ruined the show when it hired him.

I’d take it with a pinch of salt. especially the salary. That total will include his Radio show. The only source I can find is the Daily Mail, which is anti-BBC as it is.
That’s not to say he doesn’t do short days, but it is worth noting that he is not the only one on the show. What it says to me is that he won’t be the man with the most screen time. He will need to give up his Radio show or take extended breaks whilst filming.

Seriously though, they need to do the show with “just” the other five. It’ll probably be more enjoyable anyway.

Because he gets result from seemingly impossible situations. This isn’t the first time he has to take over from a revered predecessor under massive pressure with widely accepted expectations of failure. To be honest he was the “safe bet” because he will get viewership figures on Sunday night which due to the unique way the BBC is funded is all that matters.

I don’t really care about the money aspect.
The problem I have with this report is that so far he has proven himself to be an utter control freak who butts heads with his producers (and got one fired), and tried to block Matt LeBlanc from getting hired...
Reading all of the previous reports on this guy I would have thought that he is very invested in the show and is putting every waking hour into it...but no, he’s there in time for tea & crumpets and a spot of lunch..

Prove it, please. Show me proof, aside from the TG producer and punching Piers Morgan (because seriously, who fucking wouldn’t) and I’ll retract my statement.

Don’t be moving the goal posts now. Plus he got done in for hitting Ian Hislop on HIGNFY (look it up). Those are 3 incidents of him “drawing blood” in public. Now to be honest none of the incidents were that severe, all of the parties involved admitted as such but it doesn’t change the fact that he has assaulted 3 different people.

Oh, he threw a pen at him. Yeah, that’s assault alright. /s
Granted he should have apologized when it drew blood, but no, I’m not convinced. That’s not a “long history”. He doesn’t exactly go around just beating people up. Though I will admit that he does have a temper.
Hell, I’ve thrown pens at people. I guess that gives me an assault rap sheet too.

I think the fault is with the BBC for picking someone with such conflicting priorities. I'll reserve judgment on Evans until I see the first show; to be honest, it's really Harris, Schmidt, Reid, and Leblanc I'd like to see most. I still find it difficult to see Jordan's relevance unless they do a lot more motorsport related material, but he does say some funny and possibly stupid things during F1 broadcasts, so maybe that'll play into the TG role.

Bad joke was bad joke. I’m still a Clarkson fan regardless of all the shit he’s facing. :)
At least he’s learning (as I have learned myself) that when shit hits the fan in life, it’s best not to take your frustrations out on others. Did he deserve to be fired? Sure. Does he deserve the crazy media shitstorm? Nope.

A temper which can only be calmed by hurting other people. Like I and the other people involved (even Piers) said it was minor but assault is assault.
Plus add in some context he overreacted to such minor things himself. Essentially Clarkson with try to hurt you if you call him dumb, give him cold food or prove that he is cheating on his wife. Also the examples I gave were all in public which shows he don’t give a fuck which says a lot about him.
Of course there’s been a lot of gossip over the years about behind the scenes antics but like all 99% of news to do with Chris Evans I’ll just dismiss it as desperate tabloids trying to sell papers because that what my scummy tabloids do.

If the show were coming back with the currently announced cast minus Chris Evans (and possibly Eddie Jordan) I would be optimistic-bordering-on-eager for its return. Rory, Sabine, Joey, and Monkey would make for a great set of hosts.
